ROSSY Ascends With Her Debut 6-Track Trap EP ‘HEAVENS DOOR’ on HARD Recs – OUT NOW
L.A.-based producer ROSSY is finally pulling back the curtain on her impeccable debut EP ‘HEAVENS DOOR.’ The six-track offering is a powerful exhibition of her signature trap style that effortlessly moves between enthralling emotional appeal and hard-hitting sounds.
Opening the EP in an epic fashion comes the fittingly titled ‘ANTHEM.’ Embodying the dichotomy carried throughout the project, the track fuses cinematic soundscapes and grande melodies with militant percussion, gritty rap vocal samples, and devastating drops. Packing a high-octane, pulse-raising energy, this one primes listeners for what’s ahead.
Connecting with Toronto-based rapper Jazz Cartier comes “KARMA.” Majestic horns and ethereal atmospheres create a regal feeling that’s boosted by Cartier’s brazen vocals. Three distinct drops blur the lines between trap, club, and wave, making the single an ever-evolving monster. Cartier’s in-your-face aesthetic is perfectly matched and amplified by the production, making “KARMA” a chest-pounding heater.
Demonstrating ROSSY’s range comes the moving “DON’T SAY.” Leveraging the artist’s own vocals, the pitched-up hook tugs at your heartstrings as it’s looped throughout. Inspired by her own excruciating heartache, ROSSY bares her soul with chill-inducing arpeggiations and a soaring synth lead that aims to transcend the pain beyond the physical realm. It’s a cathartic release that channels the power of darkness into something beautiful and monumental.
Surpassing the project’s midpoint unlocks a double dose of trap bangers. “DEITY” takes festival trap into the realm of the divine. Staccato xylophone and choir vocalizations float over a supernatural melodic lead, creating an otherworldly aesthetic. “I like it like that” vocals catapult the track into a cavernous drop that’s riddled with bass and violent synth stabs. “LYRA” builds upon the energy of the previous track while somehow upping the ante. The ominous introduction and icy melodies set the stage for menacing trap drops that bring the track to its apex. Pounding percussion, bellowing bass, war-ready brass, and a dizzying lead combine for electronic trap perfection.
Drawing the project to a close is the title track. In collaboration with her real-life best friend and fellow rising star Pauline Herr, “HEAVENS DOOR” is another emotionally impactful anthem that closes the project in epic order. Pauline Herr’s remorseful lyrics and silky falsetto are wrapped in angelic harmonies that elevate the impactfulness. Lofty anthemic drops create an out-of-body experience that captures the overwhelming feelings of heartache.

ROSSY gives fans a window into what makes the project so special: “I wanted to wait to make an EP until it felt like I could fully give the world the realest representation of myself, a true piece of me. I wanted to make sure it was so special for all of the lovely people who take their time to support and stream me. I wanted everything from the music, the art, the rollout, and the branding to feel so special and so true to me.
I really feel like I accomplished that, and I am so proud of this body of work. The EP ranges from having trap ‘bangers’ that truly just illustrate my love for some good-old fashioned trap to more melodic songs that have a deep and important meaning that drew inspirations from my own life and emotions. I feel so very lucky that I get to create and share something like this with the world, and I also feel so lucky that I got to collaborate with such amazing people like Jazz Cartier and my beautiful best friend, Pauline Herr. This EP truly was a labor of love, and I’ll forever be so proud that ‘HEAVENS DOOR,’ was my first full body of work released out into the world.”
In celebration of the release, ROSSY will embark on her first-ever nationwide headlining tour, which includes stops in Seattle, Denver, and her hometown of Sacramento. Adding to her live schedule is a slot at the magical Electric Forest festival in Michigan, as well as support for REZZ at Red Rocks. To give fans a sample of what to expect, she’ll be releasing a new mix for Annie Nightingale’s Ignition Mix series on BBC R1. With regular support from tastemakers the likes of RL Grime, Zeds Dead, Illenium, Flosstradamus, and TroyBoi, it should come as no surprise that ROSSY is set to have her biggest year yet in 2023.
