On December 14th, the Poppodium 013 in Tilburg was yet again host to a must-attend event: celebrating 20 years of B-Front, whose music has shaped the sound of Hardstyle! Organized by the team at REBiRTH Events, the day-time event took us on a journey throughout the last two decades of Bob van der Palen’s music!
With a lineup stacked with fellow legends and collaborators of B-Front’s impressive discography, this was far more than just another party!
The Start of this Legacy:
By the age of ten, he was already producing his own tracks in his neighbor’s studio! His debut track, Motherfucking Psycho (2005), was followed by Lunatick (2006), which quickly earned him recognition in the Hardstyle world. By 2008, he played his first Defqon.1, and in 2009, X-Qlusive Holland!
In 2015, he joined forces with Adaro, Frequencerz, and Ran-D to create Roughstate, a label that has released nothing but high quality Hardstyle since! A defining moment in B-Front’s career came in 2016, when he headlined his own X-Qlusive event at the Heineken Music Hall (now AFAS Live).
Two Decades of B-Front
We made sure to be at the venue from the very start on: right from the opening it was an all-star lineup, with sets from Phuture Noize, Ran-D, Adaro, Frequencerz, Alpha Twins, Zany, Frontliner, and Digital Punk, among others. The timetable was never fully released, leaving fans to guess and take the clues shared on social media to create their own idea of the timetable (which were pretty accurate to be fair, well done!)
B-Front’s biggest tracks, like Mysterias, The Paradox, and Magic, had the crowd in full voice. The energy in the room was mind-blowing, with fans singing along to every note, and hitting every kickroll!
Collaborations throughout the night brought unique energy to the stage, each reflecting a different chapter of B-Front’s journey. The mix of melodic storytelling and raw kicks kept the crowd moving and made each performance an experience by itself.
The pinnacle of the event were the two solo sets by B-Front, which captured the essence of his two-decade-long career.
My, very biased, favorite set was the b2b with Phuture Noize, as I have had The Paradox and The Solution on repeat since the days they were released, but trust me – you won’t hear any crowd as loud anywhere else!
With surprise appearances from artists like Kronos, the final set was a fun party-vibe closing as “B-Front & Friends”
MC Synergy was the showmaster of the day and all there’s left to say is: WOW, what a party and what a legacy! We cannot wait to see what else B-Front has in store for us in the years to come. THANK BOB FOR MUSIC!
