Montreux Jazz Festival’s Artist Of The Month, Sensu, has announced the release of her forthcoming “Numéro LDN” EP with new single, “Pink”.
Providing a glimpse into the full project, Swiss producer Sensu explores faster rhythms, demonstrating her ability to effortlessly blend spheres of ethereal electronica, D&B and hip-hop with Jamal Bucanon’s smooth lyrics.
The project is the first she’s released since last year’s single Outspoken, recorded with up and coming rapper LYAM by the River Thames in London. The recording process for that song ignited Sensu’s passion for the city. Spending her time between London and her Swiss hometown, the inspiration of the urban atmospheres allowed her to evolve musically, with the new project taking inspiration from the likes of PinkPantheress, Overmono, Bonobo, Disclosure, ta-ku, Flume, Mura Masa and more.
Commenting on the track, Sensu says “Pink was one of those tracks where we just went in the studio and freestyled. I had just moved back to London and met Jamal (Jamie) on Tinder and I invited him over to my studio in Peckham. He started rapping over some beats I was working on and this song just came together so naturally. We recorded all the vocals that day too. He brought so much to this track and his voice sounds amazing. It was one of those rare moments where everything felt in sync!”
Now following her decision to take her music down the independent route new single “Pink” and the upcoming EP is dedicated to her admiration for London, recording the whole project there whilst connecting and collaborating with British artists including Jamal Bucanon, OKAN (signed to Tinie Tempah’s label) and Denyher that have caught her attention over the years.
The full EP is set to showcase her multi-faceted approach that she has expanded on since emerging back in 2017, always perfectly weaving multiple genres and soundscapes which has seen her find fans in Preditah, Melle Brown and more.
Her debut album “Embrace” via Universal received a great response with Listen ft. Otis Junior earned over 1M streams whilst also featuring the likes of Bassette, Ryler Smith, Ryck Jane and Benjamin Armaru. Following two Swiss tours, a nomination at the Swiss Music Awards where she also performed, and hailed ‘Artist Of The Month’ by the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival last year, Sensu is rising with international appeal.
