EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
Hey Nick! Welcome to Soundrive. Where are we speaking to you from today?
I am currently situated in my preferred space for creating music, located in a small town near Bremen, Lower Saxony, Germany.
For those that may not be familiar with you, can you introduce yourself to our readers and let them know a little about how you came to start producing?
I’m 22 years old, and my musical journey began in 2019 when I made contact with Boris Brejcha on Instagram. I created a piano version of Boris’ fantastic track, ‘Gravity’. Subsequently, I started covering various tracks on the piano and shared them on my Instagram account. Meanwhile, I also began producing my own music. What makes this particularly remarkable is that I have a significant hearing impairment and rely on hearing aids. Furthermore, I am unable to speak.
What are some of the biggest milestones of your career thus far?
In 2019, I established contact with Boris Brejcha and recorded the piano version of his track “Gravity.” In 2022, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Tube & Berger on two occasions. Additionally, I secured a record label deal with Yellow Kitchen. Also in 2022, I released my debut track “Nebula” on Yellow Kitchen. In 2023, I had the opportunity to perform my first gigs at Technodampfer in Düsseldorf, Germany, and the Ikarus Festival in Memmingen, Germany.
Congratulations on your new single ‘Work My Body’ with Tube & Berger! How did this come about and what was the process like working with such an iconic duo?
Marko (Berger) brought along the vocals of “Work My Body,” and we built an entire track around those vocals. Working with Tube & Berger was an incredibly inspiring experience, and I learned a great deal from these talented guys.
You have worked with the guys before, but how did this time differ to your previous collaborative projects?
With every session, we continue to grow and refine our skills, becoming more professional in the process. The studio experience has been absolutely fantastic, allowing us to create music in an atmosphere filled with joy and creativity.
What drives you to make music and how do you remain inspired for making new tracks?
Since I cannot speak, music is my way of expressing myself! Sometimes, I find myself inspired by just a vocal or a simple melody that captivates me. When that happens, I feel compelled to create a track around those vocals or melodies. With each track I produce, I can sense my improvement and growth.
Is there any advice that you were given that has stuck with you over the past few years?
Don’t let it get you down and do your thing.
If you could collaborate with any musician on the planet, who would it be and why?
Avicii, because he influenced me at the start of my music career. His inspirational impact on me cannot be overstated. Avicii remains a true legend, renowned for his unparalleled style of melodies that are simply unmatched in the industry.
If you could host your own event, where would it take place and who would be playing alongside you on the lineup?
It took place in France at the Théâtre Antique d’Orange. The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking, and it gives me goosebumps to witness other artists perform there.
