Ahead of their forthcoming, milestone Boiler Room set next month, rapidly rising duo Y U QT and leaders of the UK underground Dusky join forces on their first collaboration, RUSH via LG105.
Fresh faces Y U QT have barrelled into the industry with unparalleled dedication and signature skill. Rapidly building a reputation as ones to watch in the new house, garage and rave scene, the duo’s vinyl, independent releases and dubs have already caught the attention of labels like Shall Not Fade and South London Pressings as well as tastemaker names like Ben UFO, Disclosure, Or:la, Octo Octa, and Eris Drew.
The duo’s ALL NYTE LONG tour have sold out key UK venues including Nottingham’s Brickworks, Leeds’ Hifi, Manchester’ s Hidden, and Sheffield’s The Tuesday Club, whilst their live presence has also secured them spots at Boiler Room Festival, El Dorado, Propyard, Waterworks and more. Now signed to LG105/ Virgin alongside the likes of Mall Grab and Ross from Friends and beginning to boast effusive support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, 2023 is shaping up to be a massive year for Y U QT.
Meanwhile, genre-bending duo Dusky are best known for Careless (14M streams), are BBC Essential Mix of the year contenders, DJ Mag cover stars and label-heads for their 17 Steps imprint all whilst playing reputable headline sets globally from Berlin’s Panorama Bar to London’s Fabric.
First breaking through with Flo Jam, the duo saw extensive support from the likes of Calvin Harris, Loefah, Joy Orbinson, Disclosure, Jamie Jones, Boddika, Sasha, and more. Since then, the London duo have continued to trawl the underground scene over the past decade to create a distinctly versatile sound.
Since meeting in sixth form and bonding over a shared love for the pirate radio sounds of happy hardcore, garage, jungle, and D&B, Nick Harriman and Alfie Granger-Howell of Dusky have released on labels such as Above & Beyond’s Anjunadeep, Loefah’s School, Polydor, and more before launching their own label 17 Steps. With decades worth of anthems including Running Back, Endless Sky as well as albums JOY and last year’s garage direction Pressure, Dusky continue cement their credibility on the scene.
The respective duos Y U QT and Dusky now collaborate on a bass fuelled weapon just in time for the first glimmers of outdoor rave weather. A high-octane blend of bass, garage, and dancehall infused vocals, RUSH is barbed with mesmerising drops that are destined to pack dancefloors with its unmatched energy.
