1tbsp Drops ‘Pioneer Digital Plastic Sound’ Off Upcoming EP

1tbsp is a side-project by Australian (Grammy Award Nominee) artist Maxwell Byrne (aka Golden Vessel) which has a sound that can be likened to a mix between Four Tet, Daphni and DJ Koze.

Maxwell launched his 1tbsp project in 2021 giving us a debut four-track ep titled “kanashī” which he followed up on that same year with two double singles, “Dhollandia // Circles” & “Stay Up // Rest”.

Throughout 2022 he gave us a collection of new 1tbsp singles which saw him collaborating with the likes of Nick Ward, Allan McConnell (of Close Counters), Squidgenini and Sampology, resulting in a captivating four-track ep titled “Joan” which was released in December.

Over the last few months, Maxwell has been very busy working on a bunch of new 1tbsp material and already has a whole new ep on the way, and this week is giving us the first taste of that ep with the invigorating sounds of new single, ‘Pioneer Digital Plastic Sound’.

Pioneer Digital Plastic Sound is the first track from a new EP that I’ve just finished, which has been a big exploration in sound for me. I really wanted to find different styles & ideas across the four tracks, and they came together through a lot of experimentation.

I made ‘Pioneer Digital Plastic Sound’ with the idea in mind that there are so many people DJing nowadays, and sharing music through decks (plastic) which is bringing a lot of people together. Hearing music in this way has also shifted the way I find & make music.” ~ 1tbsp

“Pioneer Digital Plastic Sound’ is available everywhere now via sumoclic.
