About Monstercat
Monstercat is one of electronic music’s most influential independent record labels. Founded in Canada in 2011, Monstercat has since expanded its global footprint with three offices across Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Singapore. Leading the movement towards artist sustainability, its mission has remained the same: to empower a creative and passionate community of artists and fans through innovation.
Championing a cadre of world-renowned artists including Marshmello, Kaskade, WHIPPED CREAM, and Slushii, Monstercat celebrated over 4 Billion audio streams in 2021 and exceeds 200 Million global audio streams monthly. With six releases a week across its Uncaged, Instinct, and Silk imprints, Monstercat has topped radio and streaming charts worldwide, offering a diverse range of genres including bass, dance, pop, house, chill, and electronic.
Beyond recorded music, Monstercat channels the undeniable power of its brand into live events, merchandising, gaming partnerships, digital collectibles, and sync deals. Monstercat has hosted stages and events at notable international festivals including Tomorrowland, Amsterdam Dance Event, and Miami Music Week, spanning over 100 events across 16 countries collectively. Monstercat also holds its own homegrown festival, Compound, which draws thousands of fans to Vancouver annually in celebration of community, music, art, and more.
Monstercat’s live radio program ‘Call of the Wild’ boosts the signal even further, reaching 1.3 Million listeners weekly through its syndication partnerships across 30+ global networks, including SiriusXM and leading live-streaming platform, Twitch. In 2021, the label introduced Monstercat Silk Showcase, which features mixes from a rotating cast of artists across progressive and deep house, chillout, trance, and more. The stream receives over 100K downloads per month on Apple Podcasts and is syndicated to Digitally Imported and other online and FM stations. With over 250 hours of original programming and 5 Million live views in the 2021 alone, Monstercat is one of the most-followed music channels on Twitch with over 826k followers.
Within the work of sync and partnerships, Monstercat has redefined music licensing for content creators and major brands. Undertaking co-branded soundtracks, in-game activations, and collaborations with game publishers and titles including Epic/Psyonix (Fortnite, Rocket League), Roblox, Hi-Rez Studios (SMITE, Paladins), Amanotes, osu! and Beat Games (Beat Saber), Monstercat offers curated solutions that excite and fuel the gaming community. Additionally, Monstercat supports content creators with its music licensing program Monstercat Gold, which allows subscribers to choose from thousands of claim-free songs across the label’s ever-growing library, for use in livestream and video content.
With the firm belief that music NFTs have the power to create long-term artist sustainability, Monstercat launched RELICS, the first digital collectibles platform owned and operated within a record label. RELICS enables collectors to invest in audio-visual NFTs with dynamic rarities, and use them to innovate within the metaverse. An early Web3 adopter, Monstercat has generated over $1M from multiple successful drops in just a year, splitting earnings equitably with visual artists and musicians alike.
Backed by passionate employees, driven artists, and the dedication of fans worldwide, Monstercat proves that independent labels have the ability to reshape and reimagine the music industry landscape.
