Exclusive Interview with Young South Central Artist – Cxsmo

Cxsmo is young artist coming from South Central Los Angeles, California. He’s serving vibrant tracks across whole EDM spectrum for eight years now and he has just started! “Music has continuously captivated me to the point that I needed to make my very own sound. At this moment, I’m gradually learning while continually taking a shot at new music and an individual style. I was encouraged that difficult work pays off later on, and it sure does. I wouldn’t do what I love without the help from everybody. Whoever tunes in to my music and preferences what I do, I, in a flash, become an aficionado of them. A producer is continuously a fan of his supporters, and that is the thing that I am with my supporters and fan base. So in case, you read this, I truly appreciate you for stopping by and thank you for making this all conceivable. I genuinely welcome you and your time.”

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

1. Tell us about the first track that put you on the map in the electronic scene and the journey since. How did you get started?

It Started a night when I was collaborating with another producer for a trap song. It then turned into an EDM track since I felt that it would have to be categorized better in that specific genre group. I Then proceeded to continue making more EDM related track this year that got me into opportunities with different labels. It helped me generate more attraction to my music across every platform and also helped me boost my artist brand by a lot! This was the start of a career that I’m slowly building off.

2. Tell us about your latest project ‘Let Me Go’

My latest project is a Future / Pop song releasing on December 25th! It’s a song I’ve been working on for a while and I believe it will definitely get many listeners’ attention. This song to me feels like my best work so far after not even a whole year of producing EDM. This has gotten good attraction from people that are close to me and got the upvote for the label that’s releasing it.

3. Tell us something we wouldn’t normally find out about you?

I tend to work on music whenever I feel down the most. Something in me wants to write and produce music whenever I’m not feeling the spark of happiness. It helps me be in the zone coming up with many IDs until one of them clicks in my head. From there I proceed to take it more seriously and start writing a full track.

4. What single night out has been most memorable for you as a DJ and producer?

As a producer so far, I’ll say connecting with other producers/artists. I feel that’s the most memorable are the ideas we share to get inspiration and or to start a track. Just kicking back with people and having a real chill night makes those memories for me. Soon to make something memorable when I start Djing for a crowd and taking my music everywhere I go to play shows! 🙂

5. Give us the name of one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you listen to it?

To me it’s quite difficult to actually answer this based on my music, I really wouldn’t know what to pick out of my arsenal of music but for sure from other artists, ill go for Matisse & Sadko productions. Anything from them is something I would listen to for days, whenever I’m out of inspiration ill check their tracks out for a small boost of inspiration.

6. Dream collaboration and why?

There’s a lot of dream collabs I plan to do in the distant future and hopefully my hard works shows, but for now, Id goes for Mesto. The reason being since his style is really fascinating to me and his production workflow is on point, I feel that if we were to work on something Future Bass or Pop Hybrid it will take off for sure. Us with a fresh mindset of trying things outside our comfort zone really does make a unique track, and I believe if it gets the chance, I’ll definitely try my best to make something good with the homie Mesto!

7. If you could play any festival, which would it be?

It would definitely be at Tomorrowland. I mean that’s any producer / Dj big dream no? But that’s a major goal I have for myself is to get booked to play in one of the most energetic stages ever. So far it’s on my bucket list and I’ll definitely not give up.

8. How do you get a track started? tell us about your production process

Browsing through Youtube, Spotify, Itunes, Samples, Other producers music, Different genres, etc… I’m super diverse with music genres so ill listen to anything that catches my ear. From there ill translate what I have in mind to my DAW and start laying off ideas. I get inspired by a lot of things to be completely honest. But I start by listening to other music to find a spark of inspiration, if it meets my attention then ill continue to work on it full time.

9. Latest project? What are you currently working on?

I got a few projects in store, mostly trying to make new collabs and new sounds I’m trying to figure to define my style. I got 3 songs in total releasing in these two months. If I can ill hopefully by then have a 4th song ready before completing the year! By next year I plan to continue releasing new material monthly and build off my career with more opportunities my way.

10. The relationship between a DJ and the audience is crucial, and yet it seems to be a fragile one – how do you see the balance between giving the crowd what they want and treating them to something new?

What I believe in this, is that you’ll have to reach their interests in a way to grab their attention on stage or at a gig. Music can universally be translated to others on how you feel and want them to feel. I for one would love to play for an audience to help them escape anything that’s in their head from the music I make and play. Pouring my heart out on my tracks is something I love to do and have been doing. I let the music speak for itself and if others like it and just help them escape problems from listening to my work is already a major win. I take this seriously when it comes to production and for my choice of music. Letting the crowd feel what’s in me through my music and they react in a way of happiness, and joy is a major role in my music. And that’s something I’ll try to accomplish when I start touring.
