EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
Congrats on the release! Tell us how this single came about, and what is the next project you are working on?
Thank you very much, I appreciate it. As you can hear, the vocal is Ariana Grande from her single « Bad Idea » that she released on her previous album « Thank U Next ». Couple of months ago I was at my friends house and we decided to watch her Documentary Concert on Netflix and I heard this song for the very first time, I was like « I never hear this one before… » and my friend told me that is a song from her album but she never released it as a single. I instantly loved it and I decided to make a new version of it, because I think the original deserved to have the spotlight. My next project is to release an EP in the near future once the pandemic passes.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
My music is always based on Jersey Club Music, this is a type of music that I have always loved because of it’s energy. But when I create music I like to bring my personal touch and mix 2 or sometimes 3 different genres, like I did on DTL (Drop That Low). I think today, more than ever people needs something NEW, people love music that is fusioned. And this is my way for me to be unique and different and stand out from the rest.
Tell us something we wouldn’t normally find out about you?
That I’ve been a ghost producer to numerous famous artists in the past. (But shhhhh lol).
Give us the name of one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you listen to it?
I would say George Michael – « Careless Whisper ». This is a musical masterpiece.
What is your Dream collaboration and why?
It’s hard for me to pick. But I think I would have to say, The Weeknd, because his voice suits 90% of my tracks and for me this guy is the new Michael Jackson.
How do you get a track started? Tell us about your production process.
To be honest, it depends, I can have so much inspirations and create something from nothing. Or I can have no inspiration, not turn on my Ableton for weeks and one day create a song in 2 hours because I was in a great mood and because I heard an 80’s song that I love on the radio. Actually, this is what happened with Madonna – « Dress U Up ». I heard it on the radio and I was like this one is great but not that popular comparing to « Holiday » or « Like A Virgin »… I decided to make a new version of it.
How have you aDJusted and balanced your musical career during COVID?
Being stuck at home has his benefits, the down time has given me time to produce without the daily stress. So I am fortunate enough to have been able to produce numerous tracks in these difficult times. And I can’t wait to release them!
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
No matter what happens, you KEEP GOING!
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Less famous people, which would mean giving new artists the chance to succeed.
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
It happens haha, I sing some Drake hits or Burna Boy sometimes. I also enjoy The Jets, Pat Bennatar, Phil Collins and many more
