Meet MAAHEZ, the House Producer Whose Irresistible Sound is Shaping HUGEL’s Make The Girls Dance Label

MAAHEZ

The Cuban-American DJ is on the rise, poised for his Shrine LA debut after signing to Strange Talent.

MAAHEZ has spent his career proving his sound translates anywhere people gather to sweat. The surging Cuban-American DJ and producer has cracked the code on what happens when house music meets its cooler, worldlier cousins. His multi-Platinum ascent has glided on the wings of a genre-bending sound that fuses indie-dance with the driving pulse of tech house, hypnotic grooves of Afro-house and Latin rhythms that could make marble statues salsa.

The numbers tell part of the story: over 20 million streams and a formidable roster of supporters including HUGEL, Diplo, Gordo, BLOND:ISH, ACRAZE and Matroda. The rest comes through in performances that span from the massive festival stages of EDC Las Vegas and Ultra to the fabled playa of Burning Man and the hedonistic air of Miami’s storied Club Space.

Cultural fusion is the name of MAAHEZ’s game. Where lesser producers might slap a Latin percussion loop over a house beat and call it innovation, he makes music that sounds like the sweet spot between Havana’s street corners and Ibiza’s sunset terraces. Like Karol G bringing reggaeton to global pop without losing its edge, he’s proving that authenticity travels better than imitation.

MAAHEZ

MAAHEZ’s work on HUGEL’s famed record label, Make The Girls Dance, has proven particularly influential. The imprint has yielded five original tracks, each of which perfectly encapsulates his sultry sound: “Ay Papi,” Caliente,” “Dirty Flow,” “Rudeboy” and “Matadora.”
With its chugging beat and come-hither vocals by Jenn Morel, “Matadora” has proven to be a sleeper hit, garnering live support from BLOND:ISH and EDM.com Class of 2023 artist AMÉMÉ, among others. HUGEL also dropped the track during his standout Tomorrowland 2025 set on the iconic EDM festival’s Planaxis Stage.

Instead of rushing to capitalize on early buzz, he’s methodically building his relationship with Make The Girls Dance while perfecting a signature sound that feels inevitable in hindsight. A bona fide highlight came at the 2020 Latin Grammy Awards, where he nabbed a nomination in the category of Best Urban Music Album after co-producing Sech and Farruko’s song “Arriba,” which appeared on the former’s album 1 of 1.

His Latin Grammy nomination validates what anyone paying attention already knew: this fast-rising DJ has figured out how to make the dancefloor speak multiple languages fluently. And those conversations will only get stronger after his signing to the Stranger Than agency alongside Adam Ten and Mita Gami.
