EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Congratulations on the release of “Don’t Act Fool (Hoover It)”! What inspired the concept and sound behind this track?

Hello everyone! Thank you so much! This lethal banger started back in 2020 when I found the 90s hard house hoover sample, which then kicked off this wild tech house hybrid with sounds of 90s rave, fat bass and very catchy rap vocal to top it all off. I always wanted to have a track with that 90s rave sound, but with my own twist to it.

Your sets are known for “signature surprises” and unique mash-ups. Can you share one of your most memorable crowd reactions to a surprise moment during a performance?

Yes, absolutely! This recent mashup with Underworld -Born Slippy intro that gets topped off with Lola Messy vocal that straight away catches the crowds attention, and then onto the build up with Eric Prydz – Piano coming in always just absolutely takes the roof off the place, no matter what venue or crowd I have!

You’ve shared the stage with big names like Dave Pearce, Anne Savage, and Ian Van Dahl. What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned from performing alongside these established artists?

Definitely the biggest advice I’ve got from them all was to put most of my attention into producing and making bangers. I’ve learned from all of those performances and experiences that it’s all about engaging with your crowd, reading the crowd and making it their best night, and just enjoying yourself along the way.

Scotland’s club scene has been central to your journey so far. How has your local audience shaped your style as a DJ and producer?

It definitely shaped me into absolute party animal. As they say – no Scotland no party and people here know how to party! So every single time I’m going behind the decks I know it’s going to be fun and wild party with crowds giving it all.

With residencies across Scotland, you’re constantly reading and responding to different crowds. How do you keep your sets fresh week after week?

To be fair I have so many songs with 4/6 different edits / remixes to suit venue and crowd needs. But in general I would say it’s all about mixing it up and keep stacking those bangers!

Your influences range from the 90s to 00s dance and pop eras. Which artists or tracks from that period have left the biggest imprint on your sound?

Some of the artists to mention few : Eric Prydz , Tiesto , Alex Gaudino , Robin S and Fedde Le Grand with some of their iconic tracks and more.

Tech house with electro energy is a powerful combination. How do you see this sound evolving in the current EDM landscape?

I thinks it’s going to do very well! In general I would love to be a pioneer of a new music genre called “Rave House” which would sound and feel just like this one – a rave – house – tech hybrid with high energy for main stages.

You’ve had airplay on BBC1, LDC Radio, and more. How does hearing your music broadcasted compare to the energy of playing it live in the club?

Nothing will ever compare to hearing or dropping yourself your own banger, of course it’s absolutely lovely to drive in a car and hear your track on radio but still not as good as live and on big sound system.

For fans just discovering your music, how would you describe the “Sweet-R experience” both in the studio and behind the decks?

It’s all very Sweet and rough here haha, as you know I have created my sweet & rough family channel on Instagram where you and everyone else who joins will be always first ones to hear about all the releases, VIP edits, new tracks and all the behind scenes including bloopers. But all in you can expect high energy and singalong bangers coming from studio to all performances.
