Breakbeat Legend Freestylers Joins Forces With Greenflamez on Modern, Rave-Ready Breaks Single “Feels Real” via Insomniac’s Speaker Freaker Records – OUT NOW

Freestylers X Greenflamez

London’s legendary Freestylers return to Insomniac’s recently minted rave label under its main moniker, joined by Spain’s rising producer Greenflamez for their dark, euphoric-laced breaks collab.

Speaker Freaker pushes deeper into modern breakbeat with “Feels Real,” a collaboration between London icons Freestylers and Sevilla’s rising force Greenflamez, out September 26th.

The single follows Freestylers’ appearance on the label’s inaugural release “Nighthawk” (as the reigning breaks triad King of the Beats alongside Krafty Kuts and Plump DJs), reaffirming their role at the core of Speaker Freaker’s vision. This time, they join Greenflamez for a darker, more atmospheric take on the breaks continuum.

Built for shadowy rave spaces and towering festival rigs alike, “Feels Real” is driven by restless syncopation and sub-heavy basslines, fractured by jagged rave stabs and shadowy countermelodies. A dreamy vocal hook drifts above the grit, capturing the blur between reality and illusion, while retro-tinged keys rise into an organ-soaked breakdown that channels the euphoric urgency of classic hardcore.

The track bears the unmistakable stamp of Freestylers: a rugged, bass-first approach that has defined their six albums and countless underground-to-mainstream moments since the ’90s. Their legacy stretches across decades of breakbeat, from club circuits to festival fields, with tracks that have crossed over into everything from ‘Top of the Pops’ broadcasts to cult cinema.

Counterbalancing that heritage is Greenflamez, one of Spain’s most vital new-school breakbeat voices. His catalog spans respected labels including 83, Kaleidoscope, Elektroshok, Electrobreakz, and Distorsión, blending hardcore pianos and drums with future-facing production. With a Beatport No. 1 for “Meblara” and collaborations alongside Kid Kenobi, Guau, and Freestylers themselves, he has emerged as a key architect in breakbeat’s next wave.

The two artists have traded remixes in recent years, but “Feels Real” marks their most definitive link to date—a slab of contemporary breaks that honors rave lineage while driving Speaker Freaker further into its future.

With a career spanning nearly three decades, the Freestylers—Aston Harvey and Matt Cantor— have made their mark on the electronic dance music scene. From playing the world’s biggest festivals and clubs to appearing on Top of the Pops, they’ve remained at the forefront of the genre without ever standing still. Aston Harvey began as an engineer and producer, working with Rebel MC / Congo Natty and coproducing the jungle classic Spiritual Aura with DJ Rap.

Matt Cantor, meanwhile, was part of Strike, co-producing the dance hit U Sure Do. The two met at Fresh Records, bonding over their love of hip-hop, electro, and breakbeats, leading to the birth of the Freestylers. Their debut album brought them international success, with hits like B-Boy Stance and Ruffneck landing in the UK, Dutch, and German Top 20. A major US record deal followed, leading to a spot on Lenny Kravitz’s American Woman tour and a legendary Glastonbury 1999 performance.

Over the years, they’ve released a string of anthems, from Push Up, a #1 hit in Australia, Holland, and Belgium, to Cracks, which became a dubstep classic with 80+ million streams. They’ve also collaborated with Pendulum and held festival residencies worldwide. In 2025, they’re set to release their seventh studio album, Enter the Sound—a collaboration with Dub Pistols featuring reggae legends like General Levy and Tippa Irie. With a packed schedule of festivals, remixes, and new music, the Freestylers are still going strong. In the words of LL Cool J: “Don’t call it a comeback—they’ve been here for years!”

Jose Antonio López AKA GreenFlamez is a DJ/Musician/Composer, a leading figure in contemporary music in the Breakbeat and Electro genres. He has collaborated with major artists in the industry nationally and internationally and has also worked with some of the best record labels of the moment, including 83, Kaleidoscope, Elektroshok, Electrobreakz, Mama’s Pie, Distorsión, and Cleveland City.

He is co-owner of the record label Solid Breaks Records. His tracks are heard all over the world and supported by the best DJs. He reached the Top 1 on Beatport with his hit “Meblara” alongside pianist Alberto Jiménez and DJ Wally. He has been remixed by Guau, Freestylers, Kid Panel, Kid Kenobi, and Mizzo, among others. His style fuses old-school hardcore focused on pianos and drums, along with Breaks, with the current touch of new generations.
