UFO Network caught up with David Forbes and chatted about his new release:
“Quantum Valley” is dropping this Friday—can you tell us the story or inspiration behind the track?
Easy one – it was my debut set at EDC Vegas and I wanted a unique track to debut there.
What makes this single stand out from your previous releases?
I think with all my releases I need those special drops and melodies, not just a generic format that we see a lot in trance music.
Did you experiment with any new production techniques or sounds while working on “Quantum Valley”?
I’m constantly experimenting with new sounds and trying to push things forward with every release i work on.
The title itself feels very futuristic—what does “Quantum Valley” mean to you?
It means development, experimentation pushing sounds, theories, ideas in areas we have not quite figured out yet.
When you sit down to start a new track, do you usually begin with melody, rhythm, or sound design?
It really depends on what type of mood I’m in, a lot of my music and basically EDM music in general is kick and bass driven so I tend to focus on that mostly.
You’ve had a long and successful career in trance and progressive music. How do you keep evolving while staying true to your signature sound?
For me, I’m as passionate about my craft as I was the day I started – I love getting up in the morning knowing I’m doing something I’m obsessed about on a daily basis. That’s what kept me focused and going for so long.
Are there any artists or genres outside of dance music that influenced “Quantum Valley”?
There’s a few elements in the track that take influences from Techno / uplifting Trance.
How do you see the current state of trance and progressive music, especially with festivals coming back stronger than ever?
Music is always evolving as long as there’s artists out there pushing the boundaries in all elements of sound in whatever genre they produce in, that will keep things fresh for the ravers buying tickets.
Will “Quantum Valley” feature in your upcoming live sets, and do you have any special shows planned around its release?
Absolutely , I’ve been playing the track in every set since I debuted it at EDC Vegas
After “Quantum Valley,” what’s next for David Forbes?
My 2026 release schedule is already stacked with releases on Armada / DS / and many more.
