In a scene often defined by trends and algorithms, independent UK producer Jøsh is carving out something far more intentional.
Hailing from North Shields in the North East of England, the electronic artist and sound designer has built a reputation for bass-driven club records that don’t quite fit inside traditional genre boxes. Blending bass house, electro, melodic tension and drum & bass, Jøsh’s productions are engineered with mainstage scale in mind — yet created entirely from a bedroom studio. It’s a contrast that defines his project: cinematic in ambition, independent in execution.
After graduating with a degree in Electronic Music, he launched his own imprint, OZØNE RCRDS, taking full control of every release. From production and mixing to visuals and rollout strategy, everything sits in-house. That commitment paid off early, with his debut EP Breathe reaching the Top 3 on Beatport’s Mainstage chart and earning him BBC Newcastle’s “One to Watch” recognition. BBC Radio 1 would later describe his music as something that “deserves to be listened to by thousands of bodies dancing together,” while support from Tomorrowland One World Radio and Laidback Luke further reinforced the scale of his sound.
But it’s his latest project, REALITY, that marks a defining moment.
More than just a collection of club tracks, REALITY is a narrative-driven EP exploring humanity’s evolving relationship with artificial intelligence. Each track represents a letter of the word itself, forming a complete arc — from awakening to reflection.
Opening with high-impact cuts like “Eros” and “Instinct,” the EP establishes its tone immediately: aggressive bass house energy layered with detailed vocal chops and melodic tension. “Limitless” expands that vision into a euphoric mainstage moment, balancing driving basslines with emotional breakdowns that feel built for large-scale environments.

Midway through the project, “Afraid” introduces darker UK bass textures and atmospheric weight, before unfolding into a release that blurs club functionality with narrative depth. It’s a reminder that Jøsh isn’t simply chasing drops, he’s constructing an atmosphere. The conceptual centrepiece, “Transmission,” takes the boldest risk. Shifting BPM mid-track, the record moves from electro house into drum & bass, symbolising instability as the machine begins to take control. It’s a structural decision rarely attempted in mainstream club music, but one that reinforces the project’s core theme.
The EP closes with “Yesterday,” a reflective, melodic finale designed for those closing festival moments — less about impact, more about emotion. “REALITY was about taking a creative risk,” Jøsh explains. “I didn’t want to just make club records — I wanted to build a world. The genre shifts aren’t there to be clever; they’re there to tell the story.”
At the heart of it all is meticulous sound design. Jøsh’s dedication to crafting a distinct sonic fingerprint has even extended into releasing his own artist serum preset and sample packs with Glitchedtones— offering other producers a glimpse into the textures and tones that shape his world.
Released independently and rolled out across ADE as a seven-day narrative drop, REALITY stands as proof that bass music can be cinematic, conceptual and forward-thinking without sacrificing impact.
For Jøsh, it’s not about fitting into a scene — it’s about building his own.
