“Naoma” is a soulful odyssey that fuses haunting African vocals with a beautifully layered, atmospheric groove.
The record moves effortlessly between emotion and rhythm – from earthy percussion and lush synth textures to a melodic progression that evokes unity, introspection, and dance-floor connection. The track’s ethereal vocal line – sung in rich, emotive tones – sits at the heart of the production, while The Mode, K Mouta, and Tommy Tassev blend their unique sounds into one cohesive, hypnotic narrative. The result is both spiritually moving and dance-inducing – a perfect reflection of modern Afro House’s global resonance.
We sat down with The Mode, K Mouta & Tommy Tassev to chat about “NAOMA”:
1. “Naoma” is described as a spiritual and transcendental Afro House journey. What was the core inspiration or emotional spark behind this collaboration?
Honestly, “Naoma” started from a feeling. We wanted to capture that feeling, almost meditative energy. It wasn’t planned, it just came from all of us wanting to make something that felt meaningful.
2. The track beautifully merges haunting African vocals with lush synth layers. How did you approach blending traditional Afro House elements with your own signature sounds?
The vocals were so powerful on their own that our main goal was simply not to get in their way. We built the synths and atmosphere around them slowly, making sure every element supported that emotional vibe. It was all about balance — letting the traditional Afro House energy shine while keeping our own touches in there.
3. Each of you brings a unique cultural and musical background — Greece, North Macedonia, and beyond. How did your diverse roots influence the creative process and final sound of “Naoma”?
We all come from different places, but also our influences are naturally different too. But that’s what made the process fun and interesting.
4. The Mode, with over 15 years in the international scene, how did your experience shaping dance-floor energy inform the production direction of this record?
With so many years in the scene, you get a strong sense of how to build and release energy. For this track, the focus was on creating something that evolves slowly but keeps you locked in emotionally. That experience helped shape the flow of the record — letting it breathe, letting it build, and making sure every moment has purpose on the dance floor.
5. K Mouta, you’ve built a name in Dubai and Saint-Tropez for energetic, emotion-driven sets. How did performing across such global venues shape your approach to producing Afro House music like “Naoma”?
Playing for such diverse crowds taught me that people everywhere connect through rhythm, no matter what language they speak. That pushed me to produce Afro House in a way that’s emotional but still drives the room. “Naoma” is very much inspired by those crowds and their energy.
6. Tommy Tassev, your sound has evolved from melodic and tech house to Afro House, with major support from top DJs. How does “Naoma” reflect your current artistic evolution?
My sound has been shifting over time, and Afro House feels like a natural step in that evolution. “Naoma” shows where I’m heading — still melodic, still emotional, but with deeper rhythms and more organic energy. It reflects what I’m inspired by right now and where I want to go musically.
7. The vocal element in “Naoma” is deeply emotive and almost cinematic. Can you tell us about the story or meaning behind the vocals and how they connect to the track’s spiritual atmosphere?
The vocals felt emotional from the first listen. Even without understanding the words, you feel the message. For us, they added a sense of story — something mysterious and heartfelt. They helped shape the entire direction of the track.
8. Collaboration often comes with creative synergy — and challenges. What was the dynamic like between the three of you in the studio? Any memorable moments from the production process?
The chemistry was easy. No egos, no pressure — just good energy. One moment we’ll never forget is when the vocal finally clicked into the groove. We all looked at each other like, “Yep, that’s it.” After that, everything flowed naturally.
9. Afro House continues to resonate globally, bridging cultures and emotions. What do you think makes this genre so universally powerful, and how does “Naoma” contribute to that movement?
Afro House just connects with people. The rhythm hits you in a very human way. It’s emotional, uplifting, and grounding at the same time. With “Naoma,” we wanted to give people that same universal feeling, something you can vibe to whether you’re in a club or zoning out at home.
10. Finally, looking ahead — can fans expect more collaborations from you three, or perhaps a continuation of the “Naoma” sound in future releases?
We definitely felt something special working together. It’s safe to say this won’t be our last collaboration. Whether it’s a follow-up to “Naoma” or something totally different, there’s more coming.
