Baked under the Sicilian sun and fueled by an uncompromising love for groove, Sallok’s latest release “Feel The Music” is a pure celebration of tech house energy and emotional connection.
Featuring the uplifting vocals of longtime collaborator Jolie, the track captures that irresistible pull of the dancefloor—where place, temperature, and reality dissolve into rhythm. From rooftop radio sets in Sicily to formative years shaped by vinyl, piano, and UK club culture, Sallok continues to channel lived experience into sound. In this interview, he breaks down the inspirations, collaborations, and creative instincts behind a release built to move both bodies and hearts.
Your new single “Feel The Music” blends crisp production with Jolie’s uplifting vocals. What was the earliest spark that inspired this track, and how did the collaboration with Jolie begin?
This track has been inspired by my last radio show which I have been streaming from a roof top in Sicily in 30 degree heat in early September. I was just melting but enjoying my set. The lyrics just explain how much desire for pure tech house vibes can drag you in any possible scenarios as dancefloor. Jolie has been a very good Italian vocalist which has been collaborating to quite lot of my productions. She is very good to develop lyrics from any topic I bring and this was very inspiring to her so she came up with the song.
You grew up surrounded by vinyl and influenced by classical piano through your Aunt Isabella. How do those early sonic memories still find their way into your house and electronic productions today?
My production is very much influenced by those vibes from my childhood – starting from a bit of a piano jam, my tracks take shape and that’s the way I craft my music.
Classic and jazz piano studies gave you a strong technical foundation. How does that training shape your workflow when building a groove-driven, vocal-focused track like this one?
It is indeed a very big help – it gives a precise structure to my composition. Any technical skill has a serious impact on the way the track’s vibes develop.
You’ve cited The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, and Orbital as early electronic inspirations. In what ways did those artists influence the energy and structure of “Feel The Music”?
My electronic dance foundation starts from those 3 bands, which have inspired all my music. “Feel the music” does get that sound thanks to those amazing bands.
Having lived and created music across Sicily and the UK, what elements—cultural, emotional, or musical—do you feel each place has contributed to your identity as Sallok?
I think each place give you some energy – it’s up to your inventive ideas to grab those vibes and put them back into the music you produce.
You’ve worked across many genres: Techno House, Deep House, Drum & Bass, and beyond. What keeps you rooted in vocal house for this release, and what excites you about the genre right now?
The tense tech house rhythm and vibes need a proper vocal house for this release. It is the perfect storm to create a dance floor hit.
Your collaboration with Katherine Downham as MITAD earned recognition from BBC Introducing. What lessons from that duo experience have carried over into your solo creative process?
It was a very constructive experience, which has left me with lots of knowledge on how to work with different vocal skills which every vocalist bring to the table. It was very intense and I am happy for that recognition on BBC radio show.
Jolie’s voice brings a warm emotional layer to “Feel The Music.” What did you want her vocals to communicate, and how did you shape the production around her performance?
I usually produce the music and then Jolie and I will talk about what I would like to communicate with the track. She gets few elements from me regarding the lyrics but she produces most of it by picking up the essence of our brainstorming around the song.
Your journey shows constant evolution—from classical, to electronic, to collaborative projects. With this new single out, what’s the next creative frontier you’re eager to explore?
I am constantly moving across different genres so it could a drum and bass single with Jolie again as my next stop.
“Feel The Music” feels built for both dancefloors and radio. When producing, how do you balance artistic expression with the accessibility needed for modern listeners and DJs?
I always try to stay in the middle of a dance floor and radio to get as much as listeners engaged with my music.
