To celebrate the next chapter of his ambitious debut album Kolibri Live LP, Corsican-born techno artist PETRU KSS is opening the doors for producers worldwide to bring their own interpretation into the Kolibri universe.
The Kolibri Live – Remix Contest begins 17 December 2025, inviting producers to rework one of the tracks from Kolibri Space Shuttle Records and imprint their own creative energy onto this expanding sonic journey. Submissions will remain open until 19 January 2026, with winners receiving exclusive hardware and software prizes from Novation, Dreadbox, Genki Instruments, and Audiorealism.
PETRU KSS’ debut album, Kolibri Live LP, was born from a radically human process: recorded live in the wild landscapes of Corsica, shaped through improvisation, and infused with narrative intent. Mixed by acclaimed engineer Hannes Bieger and mastered at Calyx, the album stands as a reminder that electronic music’s future still pulses through human imagination.
PETRU KSS’ journey is one of exploration. A hardware-focused producer and live performer, his music blends physical intensity with cinematic depth. His research project, THRiPPS (Techno, Hardware-centric, Real-time, Improvisation, Production and Performance Study), earned him the Richie Hawtin PhD Scholarship in Electronic Music. This academic and artistic path informs Kolibri Live LP – a record that embraces risk, the unknown, and the magic of live creation.
Scheduled for full release in Q1 2026, Kolibri Live LP unfolds in chapters – sonic milestones bridging earthbound emotion and cosmic exploration. The second chapter, launching on 12 December 2025, pushes listeners deeper into the album’s final act with two central pieces: Ordelion and Landing.
“Ordelion” erupts with hypnotic acid drive and melodic tension, an intense and immersive track that propels the journey toward its apex. Raw, pulsing, and atmospheric, it represents the visceral heights of PETRU’s hardware-driven live sessions. At the other end of the emotional spectrum, “Landing” provides catharsis: a deep, expansive moment of arrival where calm and light emerge from turbulence. The closing breakbeat sequence hints at new horizons just beyond view.

For this chapter, PETRU KSS invited three highly respected artists – Arnaud Le Texier, Tobias., and Joton – to reimagine these pieces, each bringing decades of craft, distinct sonic languages, and global influence.
Arnaud Le Texier, founder of Children of Tomorrow and a defining force in raw, hypnotic techno for over 30 years, injects Ordelion with uncompromising Berlin grit. His remix is relentless, dark, and immersive – driven by a striking melodic hook and the refined power characteristic of his long-standing DJ career.
Tobias., Berghain resident and pioneering figure in experimental and synth-driven electronic music, offers a completely different angle. His take on Ordelion is a trippy breakbeat powerhouse, teasing out acid undercurrents and layering hypnotic movements with his unmistakable sonic fingerprint. With a career spanning decades and collaborations with Ricardo Villalobos, Max Loderbauer, and AtomTM, Tobias. brings a meticulous sense of exploration to the Kolibri universe.
Joton, a leader in futurist, modular-influenced techno and head of Newrhythmic Records, delivers two distinct interpretations of Landing. One erupts as a gritty, raw techno cut, full of physical energy and impact. The other embraces a Detroit-flavoured breakbeat approach, holding onto the cinematic depth of the original while expanding its emotional power. Known for releases on Symbolism, Planet Rhythm, Odd Even, and more – and performances across Tresor, FOLD, and REX – Joton’s contributions add expressive force to the album’s concluding act.
With the launch of Kolibri Live Part 2, PETRU KSS is inviting emerging and established producers alike to join the adventure. Participants will download stems from selected tracks and craft their own reimagined versions – techno bangers, atmospheric excursions, breakbeat experiments, ambient deconstructions… all interpretations are welcome.
The winners will earn valuable gear and software from contest partners:
Novation – innovative hardware for performance and creation
Dreadbox – characterful analog instruments
Genki Instruments – futuristic gesture-based performance tools
Audiorealism – acclaimed acid and analog-inspired software
Beyond prizes, the contest offers producers visibility within a growing creative community and a chance to contribute to a project deeply rooted in storytelling, improvisation, and artistic authenticity.
Now it’s your turn to step into the Kolibri universe. If you’re a producer ready to push boundaries, take risks, and let your imagination run wild, this is your invitation. Download the stems, dive into the world of Kolibri Live, and reshape its energy with your own vision. Whether you craft raw peak-time techno, hypnotic atmospheres, or breakbeat experiments, PETRU KSS wants to hear your interpretation. Fire up your studio, trust your instincts, and take your sound Beyond Gravity.
