DJ Persuasion returns with ‘Moon Blues (Get Ill) (Remixes)’, a heavyweight reimagining of his deep jungle roller, released digitally on October 3 via London label Ulterior Motives.
The project brings together some of the most respected voices in the scene — Dev/Null & Tim Reaper, Ironik (Liftin’ Spirits), and Friske — alongside a brand-new Persuasion track, ‘Marked’. The Dev/Null and Tim Reaper remixes are out now.
Originally written as “a late-night, smoky jungle roller” exploring themes of stillness and reflection, ‘Moon Blues (Get Ill)’ now finds new life in a set of bold reinterpretations. Dev/Null and Tim Reaper twist the track into a darkside jungle-techno mutation, amplifying its intensity and drive. Ironik, the alias of Ant Miles (Liftin’ Spirits), reshapes it into a heavyweight VIP edit that harks back to jungle’s golden era. Friske, a Metalheadz mainstay, delivers a smooth, refined take that oozes class and atmosphere. Rounding out the release, Persuasion contributes Marked — a harder-edged new cut built around the “Demon Poetry” sample that inspired his long-running NTS show of the same name.
“The remixes explore different angles of the track, each offering a unique perspective,” says Persuasion. “All four artists are heroes to me, and their interpretations bring something vital to the table.”
DJ Persuasion is the jungle and drum’n’bass alias of Semtek, founder of the acclaimed Don’t Be Afraid label. Celebrated for his 88–98 era jungle mixes (released on cassette via The Trilogy Tapes, Blackest Ever Black, Berceuse Heroique and more), he also co-hosted the cult Demon Poetry show on NTS with Dev/Null.
As a producer, Persuasion debuted on Ulterior Motives in 2021 with an anonymous Bone Thugz ’n’ Harmony flip — now a sought-after 12” — followed by the Jameela EP, later remixed by Outrage, Noah Tucker and Ghost Phone. In 2025, he teamed up with Ghost Phone again to remix DJ Breathing Exercise’s Same Thing, one of the year’s most-played tracks across festivals and radio.
With ‘Moon Blues (Get Ill) Remixes’, Persuasion continues to stretch jungle into new and unexpected spaces while keeping one foot firmly planted in its roots.
