J Wax Detonates Club Floors With Gritty and Bouncy UK Garage Single “Do The Bang” on HARD Recs – OUT NOW

The Edinburgh-based phenom debuts on the HARD imprint with his new single, an all-action workout powered by weighty UK garage grit.

Edinburgh’s J Wax lands on HARD Recs for the first time with his incendiary new single, “Do The Bang,” dropping on 5th September. A volatile blend of UK garage grit and bassline weight, the track captures the producer’s genre-bending ethos while locking firmly into peak-time dancefloor territory.

“Do The Bang” is a no-frills, all-action workout that bursts with ragga-inflected scat vocals and shuffling percussion that refuses to stand still. Sirens wail overhead, metallic hits rattle through the mix, and warped low-end slides keep the energy tightly wound.

“’Do The Bang’ was my attempt at a straight-up, bouncy club track, built around infectious, repetitive vocals, warped synths, a thick sub, and a plucky bass designed to stand out in sets and stick in listeners’ heads,” explains J Wax.

With a catalog shaped by influences spanning breakbeat, electro, techno, and beyond, J Wax has been carving out an early reputation for unpredictable, underground club weapons. His new HARD Recs release has already picked up early DJ support from names such as Interplanetary Criminal, Job Jobse, Osmosis Jones, Y U QT, DJ Seinfeld, and Prozak, while his music has received repeated radio play on BBC Radio 1 courtesy of Sarah Story, Danny Howard, and Pete Tong – cementing his position as one of Scotland’s most exciting rising names. On the live front, he is set to appear at Glasgow’s SWG3 this season, following recent standout sets at Kazimier Garden, NT’s Loft, Sneaky Pete’s, and Liquid Lounge. With ‘Do The Bang’, J Wax makes a blistering HARD Recs debut that confirms his place among the new wave of UK club innovators.

Originally hailing from Tayport and now based in Edinburgh, J Wax burst onto the electronic music scene in 2019 with his debut EP Port to Port, featuring fan favourites like “Uber.” Since then, he has quickly carved out a reputation as a dynamic and genre-fluid DJ and producer. With a compact yet impactful discography, J Wax has earned acclaim through standout releases on respected labels including Future Classic, Headroom Records, and PRESSURE.

A founding member of the forward-thinking collective and label Palidrone, J Wax is known for his eclectic and high-energy sets that effortlessly span breakbeat, garage, and techno—cementing his status as one of Scotland’s most exciting rising talents in underground electronic music.

In 2020, he released the Blink EP on Inverness-based Kouncil Cuts, followed by the 2022 Demersal EP on Future Classic, which featured “Oceans”—a breakout track selected for the official F1 23 video game soundtrack. The momentum continued with the 2023 1997 EP on Headroom Records, and further with high-impact singles like “Nasty” and “Brat” in 2024, both spotlighted by Mixmag as Tracks of the Year (So Far).

With growing industry support from names such as Pete Tong, Sarah Story, Jaguar (BBC Radio 1 “Dancefloor Moment”), and BBC Radio Scotland’s Artist in Focus, J Wax’s reach continues to expand. He’s been championed by leading figures including Interplanetary Criminal, Main Phase, DJ Seinfeld, and Job Jobse.

In 2024 and 2025, J Wax debuted internationally with shows in Japan, Belgium, and Ireland. Looking ahead, he’s gearing up for a slate of exciting collaborations with Megra, ELOQ, Gardna, Denham Audio, and King Booo!, with forthcoming releases on Three Six Zero, Hard Recs, No Instruction, and his own label imprint expected in 2025–2026.

J Wax’s new single “Do The Bang” is available on all platforms via HARD Recs.
