Exclusive Interview With Croatian DJ and Producer Erick Gardina

Exclusive Interview With Croatian DJ and Producer Erick Gardina

Erick Gardina steps forward with a fresh deep house release, “Missin U,” a track that drifts between feeling and rhythm like neon reflections on midnight streets.

Erick Gardina (born 21 April 1998) is a Croatian DJ and electronic music producer, best known as the former co-founder of the DJ and producer duo Twinsparks. He is recognized for his electronic and house-influenced productions, international club performances, and for surpassing one million total streams across digital platforms.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

“Missin U” carries a strong emotional undertone – what personal experiences or inspirations shaped the story behind this track?

“Missin U” came from a really honest place. It’s inspired by that feeling of distance—whether it’s a person, a moment, or even a version of your life you’re no longer in. I didn’t want it to be overly dramatic, but more like a subtle, late-night reflection. It’s that quiet kind of nostalgia you feel when everything slows down.

Your sound blends deep house grooves with subtle emotion. How do you strike that balance between dancefloor energy and introspection?

For me, it always starts with the groove. If the rhythm doesn’t move you, nothing else matters. Once I have that solid foundation, I layer emotions through chords, textures, and vocals. It’s about contrast—keeping the drums driving, but letting the melodic elements tell a deeper story.

You started producing at a young age – how has your creative process evolved from your early influences, like Hardwell, to your current style?

When I started, I was heavily inspired by big room and artists like Hardwell, so everything was about energy and impact. Over time, I became more interested in space, groove, and subtle details. Now I focus less on making something “big” and more on making something that feels right emotionally and sonically.

What specific elements or techniques did you focus on while producing “Missin U” to give it that warm, late-night feel?

I paid a lot of attention to atmosphere—soft pads, analog-style synths, and really smooth transitions. I also used warmer chord progressions and kept the arrangement quite minimal so nothing feels rushed. The idea was to create something that feels like it belongs in a late-night drive or a deep club moment around 3 AM.

Having grown up between Croatia and Italy, how have those different cultural environments influenced your sound?

Both cultures shaped me in different ways. Italy exposed me to melody, emotion, and musicality, while Croatia gave me a strong connection to club culture and energy. I think my sound sits somewhere in between—emotional but still very rhythm-driven.

Your experience performing in clubs clearly shapes your music – how do you test whether a track like “Missin U” will work on the dancefloor?

The best test is always playing it live. You can feel instantly how people react—not just if they dance, but how they connect with it. With “Missin U,” I paid attention to those moments where the crowd locks into the groove without needing something overly aggressive. That’s when you know it’s working.

With your past success in the trio Twinsparks, how does your solo work differ creatively and emotionally from working in a group?

Working in Twinsparks was very collaborative and energetic—we pushed each other a lot and explored many ideas quickly. As a solo artist, it’s more personal. I take more time with decisions, and the music reflects my own mood and direction more directly. It feels more focused and intentional.

“Missin U” feels more refined and focused – would you say this marks a new direction for your sound moving forward?

Definitely. I think this track represents a clearer identity for me. I’m moving toward a more mature, groove-driven sound with deeper emotional layers. It’s less about following trends and more about building something that feels authentic.

The deep house space is highly competitive right now – what do you think sets your music apart from other producers in the genre?

I try not to overthink competition. I focus on authenticity—combining my background, my influences, and my club experience into something that feels real. I think what stands out is the balance between emotion and functionality—it works on the dancefloor, but it also connects on a more personal level.

Looking ahead, what can fans expect next from you in 2026 – more singles, collaborations, or possibly a larger project?

2026 is going to be very active. I’m planning to release more singles consistently, explore some collaborations, and potentially work toward a bigger body of work. The main goal is to keep evolving and building a stronger identity with every release.
