Mitch Oliver, Yulia Niko, Mishell, Joyce Muniz, TMPLE and Manuel Falardeau join SLAPPED Records X Crane Sessions on October 25
Montréal-based imprint SLAPPED Records has announced the full lineup for SLAPPED Records X Crane Sessions, its upcoming Amsterdam Dance Event label showcase, taking place at the iconic Faralda Crane Hotel on October 25.
Bringing together six artists from across the label’s international community, the showcase will see Mitch Oliver, Yulia Niko, Mishell, Joyce Muniz, TMPLE and Manuel Falardeau take over the Faralda Crane for a an extra special night spanning deep, groove-led house and forward-thinking club music.
The event lands towards the end of this year’s packed ADE calendar, with SLAPPED bringing its Montréal-rooted sound and its international artist network to one of Amsterdam’s most distinctive venues. The Faralda Crane, a former shipyard crane transformed into a unique hotel and event space overlooking the NDSM area, provides the setting for an extended night of music running from 10pm through until the early hours.
The showcase forms part of SLAPPED’s continued expansion into the international event circuit, and arrives off the back of international events in Ibiza, Miami, Los Angeles and Amsterdam already this year. Founded in Montréal, the label has increasingly used its events to connect its local roots with a wider community of artists, DJs and producers across Europe and beyond.
The ADE event also follows SLAPPED’s label Showcase at Het Sieraad on October 2, giving the imprint two significant Amsterdam dates during the month. These events form part of a wider programme of SLAPPED activity that has seen the imprint continue to develop its catalogue while establishing a growing presence outside Montréal.
Manuel Falardeau & Marc Wellon — This Feeling
The ADE lineup announcement comes off the back of Manuel Falardeau’s recent release on the label with This Feeling, a collaboration with fellow Montréal producer Marc Wellon. Released on September 18, the track brings together the pair’s respective approaches to groove-driven club music, built around samples from Polyrhythmics and Lucky Brown.
The collaboration came together when Falardeau and Wellon joined forces in the studio earlier this year, bringing together two producers from Montréal’s emerging club community. The track has already picked up early support from artists including Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Anna Lunoe, Ruben Mandolini, Ilario Alicante, Yas Cepeda, Sugarstarr and Sinca.
For SLAPPED, This Feeling also underlines the label’s ongoing focus on its Montréal roots as it continues to build an international platform around them. With Falardeau now opening the label’s ADE showcase, the record provides another connection between SLAPPED’s local foundations and its growing presence on the international club circuit.
