LA’s genre-fluid bass producer A Hundred Drums enlists Denver’s multi-hyphenate artist N3PTUNE for her new single on Bassrush, a deep and soul-stirring track written about finding triumph through times of tribulation.
A Hundred Drums links with N3PTUNE on “Gorgeous Tragedy,” a shape-shifting bass cut out now via Bassrush Records. The collaboration brings together two artists rooted in rhythm, ritual, and transformation, melding percussive weight with raw vocal conviction to create a track that frames struggle—not as defeat, but as evolution.
Built around the idea of triumph through tribulation, “Gorgeous Tragedy” moves like a character arc in motion. N3PTUNE’s gravelly topline cuts through the mix with unflinching resolve, delivering a performance that feels lived-in and defiant rather than ornamental. His voice anchors the record’s emotional core as the production shifts beneath him, opening in shadowy, cavernous brass-laced neuro drum and bass grooves before melting into heady deep dubstep and snarling halftime breaks. Each transition mirrors the narrative at hand: descent, confrontation, and recalibration.
Speaking to the transformative spirit of the track, as well as highlighting her first foray into drum & bass, A Hundred Drums says: “‘Gorgeous Tragedy,’ for me, is about taking a chance and trying something new. After that feeling we get from hitting rock bottom, it’s about doing our best to find our way back to the top. In that process, taking risks and exploring new directions is where growth happens, and where you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. For my first released DnB track, it had to be soulful. Working with N3ptune truly brought the record to life and helped shape the emotion and intention behind it.”
Shedding light on the meaning of the single, and recounting how the track came to fruition, N3PTUNE shares: “‘GORGEOUS TRAGEDY’ encompasses the light at the end of the tunnel after hitting rock bottom. True to the title, the song speaks to finding beauty in times of devastation, with lyrics such as, ‘I know how to dress my pain.’ This record is a journey of facing yourself at your lowest and making the best of the circumstances. This record came to fruition in 2023, when our teams first met and brought us together. Our connectedness—rooted in music, the Black American experience, and our love and respect for each other—conjured an anthem that you play when you’re getting your shit together.”

For A Hundred Drums, the single is a natural extension of her genre-fluid language. A percussionist and multi-instrumentalist at heart, the LA-based producer channels the primal pulse of oral tradition through bass music that draws equally from dubstep, reggae, psy, ambient, and downtempo. Her sound design on “Gorgeous Tragedy” is patient yet punishing, allowing space for reflection while maintaining a low-end gravity that never loosens its grip. It’s a balance she’s honed through collaborations with CloZee, Coki, and Dirtwire, as well as remixes for Subtronics, Apashe, Jon Casey, and Whipped Cream. In 2025, she maintained a healthy cadence of releases, including solo singles like “Sensation,” “Savannah Sky,” and “Fallin’,” in addition to her three-track ‘Fearless’ EP, each release ripe with braintickling sound design and a fiery zeal.
The track has already proven its power in a live setting, becoming a staple in sets since 2023, with performances at venues including 713 Music Hall, Ogden Theatre, and Mission Ballroom. That road-tested energy underscores the song’s purpose—not just as a listening experience, but as a companion for moments of rebuilding, when resilience takes precedence over resolution.
N3PTUNE brings a multidimensional presence to the collaboration, shaped by a background steeped in gospel, blues, soul, and rock. Named ‘Best Breakout Musician’ of 2023 by Westword Magazine, the Denver-based artist has built a reputation for performances that blur music, fashion, and performance art into a singular expression. Appearances at Red Rocks, Electric Forest, Northern Nights, and Capitol Hill Block Party have cemented his rise, while his recorded work continues to explore identity, collapse, and rebirth with unapologetic honesty.
With their combined forces, A Hundred Drums and N3PTUNE deliver a record that finds clarity in chaos—“Gorgeous Tragedy” treats devastation as a necessary passage rather than an endpoint. As it lands on Bassrush Records, the single stands as a powerful reminder that growth often arrives dressed in darkness, and survival itself can be an act of beauty.
Thunderous low end and pulsating rhythm embody the powerful music of A Hundred Drums. Stomping the stage in a tangle of hair and a blur of motion, her high-octane live show is the result of years of searching for that perfect primal pulse that connects humans on the dance floor. Gabrielle Watson has been cultivating a sound that moves with the times but also continues the narrative of the scene from the birth of electronic music to its journey across continents, vanguards, and movements.
After a decade of crafting her sonic signature in cutting-edge spaces, A Hundred Drums has emerged onto the main stage to bring the sounds of the underground to the masses. Her politically charged Deadbeats debut, Enough Is Enough, was released in Summer 2021 with an accompanying mini-documentary. Watson cut her teeth in dark and sweaty basements showcasing icons of the UK dubstep and drum & bass scenes, and has traveled to far flung psytrance festivals to hone her mixing skills.

‘AHD’ now gets to share lineups with some of the biggest acts in all of electronic music and collaborate with some of the most sought after producers and vocalists across a multitude of genres. She had an unbelievable run through the summer festival circuit including Okeechobee, Lightning in a Bottle, Summer Camp, Electric Forest, and Shambhala among so many others. A Hundred Drums has arrived and with her comes the promise of a new generation of bass producers in ascendence.
N3PTUNE is an explosive multi-hyphenate musician hailing from Denver, CO. Heavily influenced by his upbringing in the Baptist Church, N3PTUNE merges the essence of gospel, blues, and soul into an amalgamation of pop music as only his mind can create. His songs are bold and brash, and his live performances are immersive and raw to the point where Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss likened the experience to “seeing Prince live for the first time.” N3ptune’s quick ascent from the local DIY scene to selling out shows and performing on some of Denver’s biggest stages like Red Rocks and Ball Arena, as well as supporting the likes of Qveen Herby, Cordae, Rina Sawayama, Slayyyter, Wyclef Jean, Sleigh Bells and others, has made N3PTUNE a standout in Denver’s fast-rising music scene.
Not only that, but N3ptune’s penchant for pushing fashion and performance art in visuals and live performances has allowed him to carve a lane for himself, unlike anything that has come before. RENAISSANCE, his first mixtape, arrived in 2021 to critical acclaim. N3PTUNE supported the mixtape by touring the East Coast alongside Sleigh Bells in August 2022. Appearances at major festivals ranging from Capitol Hill Block Party, Northern Nights, Treefort, and Electric Forest, among others, have pushed N3ptune’s artistry across the nation. In 2025, N3PTUNE released his long-awaited follow-up EP, XYDS, and an apocalyptic pop journey that spawned major singles, “WMD” and “BLK305.”
