Los Angeles-based DJ and producer HBB unveils Challenge Everything – a powerful two-track EP marking his debut release on Pipe & Pochet. A dynamic blend of organic textures, earthy grooves and pulsating house energy, the EP showcases HBB stepping confidently into a new creative chapter with one of the genre’s most respected labels.
Known for his globally influenced sound, HBB brings a rich cultural perspective shaped by a life lived across continents. Born in Iraq, raised in Africa, and now rooted in Los Angeles, his name is taken from the Arabic word “habibi” meaning “my love,” and underscores the warmth, identity and connection woven into his music. Prior to this release, HBB has delivered standout work on Café de Anatolia, Among Friends Records and AFRODITE, to name a few, consistently earning attention for his ability to merge organic rhythms with modern electronic movement.
With Challenge Everything, HBB invites listeners into an immersive sonic world born from a summer of experimentation in his Los Angeles studio. The EP reflects a period of boundary-pushing exploration; melding acoustic percussion, emotive synth layers, warm bass and hypnotic rhythmic flow to create something that feels both grounded and transcendent.
The opening track, “Challenge Everything,” sets the tone with a deep, organic groove that channels curiosity, freedom and forward momentum. Its earthy percussion, deep spoken word vocals and uplifting drive create an atmosphere that feels both warm and full of intent. On the flip, “Get High,” elevates the energy with euphoric melodies and progressive, late-night textures, designed to resonate across dance floors with emotional clarity and communal release.
