UK-based rave warrior Samurai Breaks serves up the second-ever single on Insomniac’s newly minted label, a frenetic and razor-sharp percussive weapon.
Samurai Breaks hurtles into Speaker Freaker Records with its second-ever release, “Screamer Falling Stabs,” out August 22nd. Born in Scotland and raised in Yorkshire, the UK producer has become a vital architect of high-speed rave mutations, celebrated for his precision drum programming and genre-melding instincts spanning bassline, jungle, footwork, rave, juke, and grime.
“Screamer Falling Stabs” is a juke-charged jungle weapon brimming with controlled chaos. Blitzing syncopated rhythms tear through a barrage of clattering percussion, while zooming hoover basslines and pitched-up vox slice across the mix. At its peak, an onslaught of descending rave synth oscillations mimics the sensation of tumbling endlessly through the void—a visceral trip only Samurai Breaks could engineer.
The single has been locked away for safekeeping for a few years, Samurai Breaks admits, and he’s excited for it to now be seeing the light of day, saying, “This one is a heater from the vaults! I made it a couple years back for a vinyl that never came out—it always smashed in the club, so thought it was well worth bringing this one back up.”
