BUTCH SLICES AND DICES WITH DUO OF SINGLES ON FATAL FURY: CITY OF THE WOLVES SOUNDTRACK

The German producer orders a two-piece combo with ‘Murcielago’ and ‘When I Was Young’, out now.

The soundtrack for FATAL FURY: City of The Wolves continues to bolster its star-studded roster, now unveiling a duo of singles from house music mainstay, Butch. Titled ‘Mercilago’ and ‘When I Was Young’, the two productions add a techy twist to the dynamic electronic OST, providing a vibrant and varied backdrop for the franchise’s gripping gameplay. The soundtrack levels up today, when ‘Murcielago’ and ‘When I Was Young’ hit streaming services everywhere.

Each of Butch’s two new tracks carries its own identity, but both clearly play the long game. ‘Murcielago’ opens with a patient, confident groove, steadily building toward a moment that draws listeners in through its cerebral, ebb-and-flow production. What initially feels like an exercise in hypnotic repetition evolves into a masterclass in progression, bursting into an expansive, atmospheric melody in the final round that captivates with both space and intent.

‘When I Was Young’ makes for a perfect pairing, offering a similar sense of evolution but through a more introspective lens. Where ‘Murcielago”s bass bounces, this one broods, setting the stage for a more delicate production from start to finish. The track is just as much about the journey as the destination, again opening a window in the second half to a cinematic sense of melody that leaves no loose ends.

With recent soundtrack contributions from Solomun, Afrojack, Luciano, and ARTBAT, Butch’s addition strengthens FATAL FURY’s reputation as one of the most dynamic franchises in gaming today. With a tracklist as varied as the game’s roster of fighters, FATAL FURY continues to break new ground in the gaming landscape.

SNK’s beloved Fatal Fury series first hit the market in 1991, spearheading the fighting game boom of the 1990s that swept the industry thereafter. GAROU: MARK OF THE WOLVES (released in 1999) has, for some time, served as the franchise’s most recent installment. But that is all about to change: 26 years on, a brand-new entry – FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves – is set to arrive on the scene! FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves features a unique art style that stimulates the senses, an innovative REV System that supercharges the excitement, plus a host of other battle systems even more robust than before.

The game also breathes new life into the series by introducing two distinct control schemes (ensuring fun and excitement for newcomers and veterans alike) as well as other fresh features and elements. The streets of South Town are a hotbed of action, wild dreams, and even wilder ambition. Here, at long last, a new legend is about to unfold…

Butch is a DJ and producer with Turkish roots who hails from Mainz and now calls Ibiza and Dubai home. As a winner of various prestigious awards in the “Best Producer” category, Butch is a regular performer at some of the industry’s most renowned clubs and events, such as Circoloco and Robert Johnson.

He has collaborated with electronic music royalty from Ricardo Villalobos and Maceo Plex up to Frank Wiedemann and Keinemusic and released on prestigious labels, including Radio Slave’s Rekids, Dixon’s Innervisions, Solomun’s Diynamic, Axel Boman’s Studio Barnhus, Tiga’s Turbo Recordings, The Martinez Brothers’ Cuttin’ Headz, Gerd Janson’s Running Back, Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels, Loco Dice’s Desolat, Dubfire’s SCI+TEC, and Sven Väth’s Cocoon, among others.

However, Butch’s influence on the scene goes beyond a swanky but still impressive list of name-dropping collabs and labels. Brought up in Mainz, having to beg, steal and borrow (literally) to get his first set of turntables as a teen, Butch hasn’t made it to the top by chance. Realising his love of DJ’ing at the tender age of twelve, he poured his heart and soul into building a life encompassed by music. Beating the odds to get his first sets. Ignoring the knock-backs of the intimate club scene with a higher goal in mind. No stranger to lengthy days in the studio, he now has one of the most extensive discographies out there.

The diversity in his productions and music collection is what sets Butch apart. From Eastern-inspired psychedelia to pounding prime-time techno, the only thing you can be sure of is the fluidity of his sets. Not one for hard cuts, the music flows with elongated breakdowns and loops that captivate from start to finish. Butch’s ability to master such a broad spectrum of styles earned him the title of Best Producer two years in a row in both Raveline and Groove Magazine and two Ibiza DJ Awards.

Always inspired by music and creativity, Butch is a true artists artist having produced and released music with the who’s who in dance music royalty, from Ricardo Villalobos as ButRic, Adriatique and Frank Wiedemann to being remixed by Maceo Plex, Keinemusik and Guti.

After spending a huge part of his career touring the world, Butch now calls Ibiza home, where the Balearic lifestyle and energy now runs through his veins. Through maintaining his strong presence in Ibiza, this has seen Butch as a resident and playing frequently at some of the most iconic clubs and parties in the world, from Circoloco at DC-10 on Ibiza to legendary club Robert Johnson.

Butch’s unstoppable musical versatility has seen him release on highly respected labels record labels. With a career like this, it is no surprise that when Butch is behind the decks, there is no shortage of his musical peers and friends wanting to do a back-to-back with him. He is one of the most respected and loved DJs and producers in the game; as you can ask anyone on the DJ’s top list who one of their favourite artists is, Butch’s name is never far from one’s mouth.
