The behemoth dance music trifecta releases the official remix package for their show-stopping melodic bass ballad, featuring 14 fresh takes from a hefty list of cutting-edge bass music artists.
Los Angeles dance music titans SLANDER, Dutch multi-instrumentalist and producer San Holo, and South African-born/UK-based songstress Julia Church are bringing new life to their cathartic future riddim single “Broken Hearted,” released earlier this year via SLANDER’s Heaven Sent imprint. The ‘Broken Hearted’ remix package is a genre-spanning ride jam-packed with 14 fresh remixes, featuring forward-thinking renditions from Kompany, Nikademis, Nejvex, St. Mary, TRXGGX, Babsy., Tucker Kreway, Arya, Bizo, VRG, yvm3, VARI, KLAXX, and BAW.
The remix package carries the momentum of the original, which has amassed over 2.3 million streams. “Broken Hearted” has seen radio plays from Triple J, iHeart, Revolution 93.5, FG Dance, Hot Hits UK, Nexus Radio, and Massive Dance, in addition to press coverage from EDM.com, EDM Tunes, Heard It Here First, UFO Network, Fresh Music Freaks, Sweet N Sour Magazine, Find Your Sounds, Aipate, Visual Atelier 8, Perspective on Life, Roadie Music, and Music For All.
Leading off the project comes a massive rework from dubstep veteran Kompany. Julia’s Church’s gripping vocals drift over smooth vocal harmonies and a laidback guitar melody. The serene scene of beauty slowly shifts as alarm-like synths and laser tones offer an ominous contrast. Soaring synths create a stunning fakeout before Kompany switches the sound to a brutish dubstep onslaught equipped with industrial sound design, bloodthirsty growls, and menacing low-end. Oscillating between beauty and beast, Kompany’s rework showcases the power of juxtaposition with fatal finesse.
Denver-based producer Nikademis flexes his range with a remix that’s equal parts cinematic, stunning, and filthy. The first half pairs orchestral builds with electrifying future bass drops, providing a euphoric escape. Taking listeners on a sweeping journey, the latter half explores the darkness of a shattered heart. The symphonic elements are replaced with dark impacts, tension-building claps, and filthy bass teases. Evolving into a dubstep ripper, Nikademis flips the original sound on its head with a screeching barrage of raucous dubstep filth.
Giving “Broken Hearted” the drum & bass treatment comes an energetic reimagination from Czech producer Nejvex. Gritty bass from the intro foreshadows the electrifying energy that lies ahead. The high-energy drums snap through the system as pulsing basslines are layered in with pristine precision. The upbeat offering injects a completely new feeling to the original without losing sight of the emotional appeal.
Los Angeles-based breakthrough trap and future bass artist St. Mary offers her signature touch on the emotive anthem. The heavy trap cut adds haste to the healing and hopeful message at the soul of the record, with Church’s enrapturing topline conveyed over laser-loaded leads, hardwave arpeggiations, lysergic riffs, foreboding foghorns, and driving tech moments. Hardwave and festival trap collide for a blistering pedal-to-medal remix that’s primed for main-stages across the globe.

Putting his ‘RXGER SOUND’ on full display is TRXGGX’s remix of “Broken Hearted.” The muted low-passed vocals in the opening are quickly joined by distorted guitar riffs and screaming transitions. Siren synths, lasers, slapping percussion, and nasty low-end combine for a blistering bass sound that is nothing short of massive.
Known for turning his feelings into vibrations, SoCal producer Babsy. does just that with his moving remix. The upbeat four-on-the-floor rendition sees the vocals chopped, pitched, and looped for an addictive and energetic feel. The halftime switch-up in the second drop offers a complete groove reset before Babsy. brings back the shuffle-inducing tempo for the finale.
Canadian producer Tucker Kreway gives listeners a masterclass in percussion with his riveting rework. The rattling drums vibrate over perfectly placed samples and glitchy vox, which fuel its mesmerizing yet hard-hitting drops. The rich hues are vibrant, dripping through the speakers with an uplifting spirit that’s balanced against Julia’s visceral vocal performance.
Rising star Arya pairs rave-ready energy with nostalgic undertones and futuristic explorations. The Vancouver-based producer defies genres with evolving drum programming, haunting keys, and bouncy in-your-face leads. Arya’s remix is a head-nodding electronic odyssey.
French artist Bizo holds nothing back on his remix of “Broken Hearted.” The opening features all the trappings of an epic rock ballad, from the powerful guitar riffs to the potent drum-fills and vocal processing. Crashes and looped vocals give way to the main event, a devastating onslaught of unbridled dubstep destruction. Screeching synths, distorted low-end, and brain-bending sound design collide with the aforementioned elements, resulting in an explosion of sonic domination.
An ominous lead melody and rich sub-bass create the foundation for VRG’s arresting remix. Julia Church’s impassioned topline leads listeners into the drops, amounting to pure devastation. Brutish bass, slamming drums, and squelching synths collide, bringing new meaning to the lyrics “love is like a battlefield.” The back half offers a similar level of intensity while adding in a melodic lead that is nothing short of hypnotic.
Known for his unique brand of sonic violence, the mysterious yvm3 gives fans what they’ve come to love. The rock-driven intro and breaks could stand alone as their own rendition, but the duality of that sound set against the menacing riddim explosions only adds to the impact. yvm3 captures the pain of heartache perfectly with his brooding, rocktronic banger.
Pairing pitched-up vocals and a penchant for percussion, VARI blesses the release with his futuristic flip. The frenetic drums drive the track forward, moving hastily from the build to the ecstatic drops. Effortlessly alternating between vocal chops and dizzying leads, the next-level sound design lends to a new dimension for the melancholic collab. VARI finds an impressive balance between the weight of the original and an upbeat undercurrent that will have heads dancing into the early morning.
Flailing the single into a pulse-raising journey, KLAXX pulls “Broken Hearted” into a wide range of directions. The first third is a pulsing anthem that brings the infectious energy of electro to the forefront. The midpoint lets the vocals breathe and sets the stage for the switch-up ahead. A hypnotic arp drifts into a wonderfully off-kilter finale that fuses gritty 808s with trap drum rolls, while the impeccable vocals are chopped and distorted to perfection.
Offering a fitting finale is BAW’s cosmic remix of “Broken Hearted.” The stripped-back reimagination is a striking masterwork. The heavily processed vocals offer a distant feeling that slowly comes into focus like a transmission from a distant galaxy. The slow-burning introduction adds in alluring arpeggios before switching gears to a heartfelt piano backing. The backhalf offers an experimental glitch-infused section that can be best described as lo-fi riddim. It’s impactful and hard-hitting while still feeling moving and subtle. Pensive keys and stirring strings create a captivating outro that bids the project farewell.
