EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
Tell us about the first track that put you on the map in the electronic scene and the journey since. How did you get started?
I would have to say that the first track that help really put me on the map was PARTY ALL NIGHT that was released on my label Phunk Junk Records. It made its way onto the Billboard charts and peaked at #32 and stayed on charts for 5 weeks. It had some major support from bigger DJs and was played on many radio shows
Tell us about your latest project ‘Groove’ on Soundrive
My latest release GROOVE just came out February 4th on Soundrive. Its a tech house track that still has my usual flare and style to it. It’s one of my favorite tracks produced so far and hope to see it do well.

Tell us something we wouldn’t normally find out about you?
Something you normally wouldn’t know about me is that I have authored two books. One is a personal memoirs of my life and the other was about Mozart and his affiliation with Freemasonry
What single track has been most memorable for you as a DJ and producer?
My most memorable single is one that came out a few years ago and its called ITSALL4U. It was released on Magic Records and has close to 800,000 streams on Spotify. I wrote it for a girl I was in love with at the time.
Give us the name of one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you listen to it?
One track that never gets old for me is Joe Smooth PROMISED LAND. Its a house music classic from the 80s and Joe is a personal friend and mentor of mine. The track is something classic that really hits you and will never get old to me
Dream collaboration and why?
Dream collab would be to work on a track with Benny Benassi. I got the change to meet him here in Chicago a few years ago and made contact with him afterwards.
If you could play any festival, which would it be?
EDC Vegas.
How do you get a track started? tell us about your production process
How I usually start my tracks is with the baseline and simple percussion. Then I start working on leads, add more percussion, Then work in the vocals. Then effects. I also usually work on the mix down through out the process instead of waiting to do it all at the end
Upcoming projects? What are you currently working on?
I have releases coming soon on Stereohype, Wyldcard, Phunk Junk Records and Brooklyn Fire
The relationship between a DJ and the audience is crucial, and yet is seems to be a fragile one – how do you see the balance between giving the crowd what they want and treating them to something new?
The crowd is everything to me. No matter how on point I think my DJ sets are, that doesnt mean anything unless the crowd is feeling it. I also love to surprise my audience. Mainly by playing tracks before they are released, instead of every song they already know.
In the home of house music, SALADIN maintains control and a cohesive bond with his crowds of Chicago and areas beyond by playing out his wildly addictive tunes, hard-hitting basslines, and delivering one helluva experience each and every time. This is SALADIN.
